HARTFORD, Conn. –
Four dedicated Connecticut Army National Guard members—Staff Sgt. Aleesha Quintana, Sgt. Ian Heath, Sgt. Jesus Morales, and Sgt. Damien Vega—recently completed their first cybersecurity assessment as part of the Connecticut Military Department's Joint Cyber Team. Collaborating with the Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS), the team worked under the guidance of David Palmbach, DHS CISA Cybersecurity Advisor, and Cpt. Joel Fulsang to enhance the cybersecurity resilience of public organizations across the state.
This initiative aims to bolster the cybersecurity posture of Connecticut’s public K-12 schools, municipalities, public health districts, public water/wastewater facilities, and councils of governments (COGs).
By leveraging the expertise of the Joint Cyber Team, participating organizations can identify vulnerabilities and strengthen their defenses against cyber threats, thereby enhancing the overall security posture of public-facing entities. This process enhances IT infrastructure, improves cybersecurity resilience, and will aid in the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP) application process.
