A small plaque featuring the portraits of the last 13 service members killed in Afghanistan hangs on the wall in the Connecticut National Guard’s Gov. William A. O’Neil Armory in Hartford, Conn. This plaque is part of a six flag project that features images of every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, and Marine killed in Afghanistan and Iraq during the Global War on Terror.
